When I opened up Tumblr doodle requests on my Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/Hnilmik), someone requested Nylocke to be drawn. The day before, Chris and I spent some time talking about character design inspirations and ways to (possibly) improve or further exaggerate his character designs, since I’ve redrawn his characters before last year (http://hnilmik.tumblr.com/post/8587396828).
Whenever I saw Nylocke, I always found his design to be ehh. Not bad, but nothing extremely interesting either, since he looks like a heavy hitter, with his armor and big sword, but he looks “skinny”. He shows skin, so is he like a barbarian or a berserker? He speaks all fancy and has a big personality… My attempt at a redesign might not suit his voice, but I tried to exaggerate his size/armor because he essentially reminded me of Piros/Piros the 3rd from the .hack games.
